Today we went to Jericho for a field trip. Rather than tell you all or any of the many things we learned while there, I decided to let the pictures tell the story.

This is the Judean Wilderness. Lehi and his family crossed part of this wilderness (not this part but it is all the same) and I believe this is the traditional site of the Savior's forty day fast. I just have to say that after seeing this desolate place in person, I kind of understand how Laman and Lemuel felt. I would probably murmur a little too.
Judean wilderness behind us. We were at a lookout point.

This is at a monastery on the side of a mountain. This mountain is the traditional site of the Christ's temptation by Satan after the forty day fast. Women have to have their heads covered at monasteries...
This is the monastery. The hike up there was very hot and steep, but the view was great.

This is the remains of Herod's Winter Palace in Jericho. This is where he came during the colder months of the year and it is also where he died.
Aub! That picture of you with your head wrapped in a scarf is like a spitting image of that lake powell picture when your head was covered with the towel on the boat! Ah, I love you...and my condolences for Toby, may he rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe all that you are taking in over there. You will treasure these moments for the rest of your life. It was good to hear your voice on Sunday. I love you.
